My research interest is in developing methods to assay functional impacts of mutations in cancer. While genetic changes in cancer cells are systematically characterized at an unprecedented rate, it is still challenging to identify the “driver” mutations and to understand how those mutations act jointly to define the course of cancer development. To study the cross talks among cancer pathways, I designed a combinatorial RNAi screen to systematically profile genetic interactions among cancer genes. Using this technique, we found novel interactions that could potentially provide mechanistic insights into cancer development. In the future, we hope to identify combinations of genes as prognostic markers or potential drug targets for cancer.
