Collegiate Scholars Program
The IGSB collaborates with the University of Chicago’s Collegiate Scholars Program (CSP). CPS was founded in 2003. It produces a three-year program for Chicago Public School (CPS) high school students to learn how to apply, matriculate, and be successful at competitive colleges and universities across the U.S. CSP’s annual cohort averages 36 students. They take courses, work on projects, socialize together, and attend mentoring programs. CSP students apply for 5-week summer research opportunities to enjoy experiences at the IGSB. At the end of the summer students present their findings at a poster session organized as part of a culmination event (see images below). Parents, caregivers, teachers, mentors, and supporters attend. CSP students who have completed their research projects and graduated have entered top schools, including the University of Michigan, the University of Chicago, Carleton College, and Harvard University.
