Director of Research

Director of Research: Supervises a research team that: 1) performs basic and applied research in data intensive computing, bioinformatics, cloud computing, or related areas; 2) designs and develops software to implement algorithms, methods and techniques in these areas; and 3) runs national scale cloud-computing infrastructure to support researchers in these areas.

Writes research papers, technical reports, progress reports, and materials to support education and outreach activities, and grants. Works with end users to better understand their problems and requirements. 

Education:  Doctoral degree or minimum of ten years experience in bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, or related field required. 

Experience:  Minimum five years of relevant research management experience required
Five years of experience with software development required.

Experience with cloud computing software, such as Eucalyptus, OpenStack, and Hadoop preferred.  Experience in providing systems and software support to software developers and technical users preferred.
